- Responsible for all aspects of the Volunteer Department
- Participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures that govern the department
- Screens, selects, evaluates, counsels or disciplines volunteers to ensure these individuals meet the organization's standards
- Conducts ongoing efforts to recruit, prepare, and retain volunteers of all ages and ethnic backgrounds
- Participates in planning, decision making and policy formulation at management meetings
- Participates in planning, development, implementation and control of the annual budget for the department
- Tracks the use of volunteers and cost savings achieved
- Presents to the Administrator, periodic reports reflecting the services and financial activities of the Volunteer Department and such special reports as may be required
- Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity
- Develops, implements, and evaluates volunteer services regularly and at least annually
- Arranges for volunteers to provide support to the patient, family, or caregiver according to the interdisciplinary plan of care. Assign volunteers to office support as indicated
- Supervises volunteers in their daily work
- Assesses and identifies volunteer's education needs and implements appropriate programs. Coordinate and participate in volunteer training and orientation

- Capable of providing emergency care as needed for any patient
