Main Console Operator
Location: Frankfort, Kentucky (Onsite)
Role Overview
The Main Console Operations (MCO) team provides constant monitoring of information technology assets twenty-four hours per day, seven days a week. The team is the lead for the operations of the data center and serves as the primary contact for network issue reports and the service desk outside of normal work hours.
Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor information technology assets using web-based and other computer-based tools.
  • Create, update, and provide detailed notes for incident tickets and tasks related to monitoring activities, network outages, and other service issues.
  • Engage in verbal and electronic communications with various governmental agencies.
  • Monitor the status and environmental conditions of the data center.
  • Control access to the data center, including creating access requests, processing visitors, and providing escorts into restricted areas.
  • Provide Tier 1 level customer support for information technology-related issues as required.
  • Initiate escalation activities to support issue resolution, maintaining detailed notes in the ticketing system.
  • Safeguard and ensure the proper use of sensitive information and equipment.
  • Follow official policies, procedures, and legal guidelines.
  • Support physical changes and maintenance of the data center.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of official activities.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience as a Desktop Support technician or in another IT support role, with experience diagnosing and resolving technical issues with hardware and software systems.
  • Reliable attendance.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Windows Operating Systems (OS), basic networking tools (command prompt or PowerShell), and Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel).
  • Customer service skills with strong verbal and professional correspondence abilities.
  • Ability to learn new skills and follow procedures.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with limited direct supervision.
  • Self-motivated with attention to detail in work assignments.
  • Ability to adjust work schedule to provide coverage in limited cases.
  • Ability to pass a law enforcement-conducted background check, including fingerprinting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with creating tickets, requests, and logging notes into an IT Service Management (ITSM) ticketing system.
  • Data center operations experience.
  • Experience with enterprise IT management and monitoring systems such as Active Directory, Dynatrace, or ServiceNow.
  • Programming experience with a focus in JavaScript and TypeScript, and an understanding of database operations and Application Programming Interface (API) interactions.
Work Environment
This is a 3rd shift position that requires working on-site; telework is not authorized. The environment is an open office concept with shared workstations. The role supports critical infrastructure and does not close for weather-related issues. The position requires an initial orientation and training period of at least one week on the 1st shift.
