ABOUT THE LUCAS MUSEUM OF NARRATIVE ART
Opening in September 2026, the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is dedicated to illustrated storytelling.ย  Founded by George Lucas and Mellody Hobson, the museum's collection features works by artists including Norman Rockwell, Kadir Nelson, Jessie Willcox Smith, N. C. Wyeth, Beatrix Potter, Judith F. Baca, Frida Kahlo, and Maxfield Parrish; as well as comic art legends such as Winsor McCay, Jack Kirby, Frank Frazetta, Alison Bechdel, Chris Ware, and R. Crumb; and photographers Gordon Parks, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and Dorothea Lange. The Museum also houses the Lucas Archives, containing models, props, concept art, and costumes from Lucas's filmmaking career.ย

POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking for a results-driven E-Commerce Merchandiserย to joinย the Lucas Museum'sย Retail team.ย Reporting to theย E-Commerce Manager,ย the Merchandiser willย supportย e-commerce operations and strategy in support of the opening and ongoing operations of the Museum's online retail store.ย This will includeย monitoringย the online store,ย optimizingย sales funnels, and working closely with various departments under the Revenue & Engagement portfolio to ensure an exceptional online shopping experience.ย 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the day-to-day operation of the online store, including product setup, product updates, pricing, merchandising, collections, inventory-related updates, and website content management within Shopify.ย 

  • Upload andย maintainย product imagery, product information, collections, tags, merchandising attributes, and promotional assets to ensureย an accurateย and engaging online shopping experience.ย 

  • Executeย updates toย online store,ย includingย product launches, promotional changes, and campaign-related merchandising updates according to established timelines and business requirements.ย 

  • Utilizeย Airtableย and other project management tools to review assigned work, track progress, and support theย timelyย execution of merchandising and content updates.ย 

  • Monitorย online store functionality, merchandising accuracy, and customer-facing experiences; perform quality assurance testing of products, collections, content updates, and site enhancements prior to publication andย identifyย issues requiring resolution.ย 

  • Track product performance, inventory availability, and sales trends, and support ongoing ecommerce operations byย maintainingย accurateย product data, monitoring site health, and recommending improvements to merchandising execution.ย

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School or GEDย equivalentย isย requiredย 

  • 1-3 years of experience in e-commerce or digital marketing role, preferably for an arts & cultural institution or prominent consumer brand preferredย 

  • Proficient inย MS Excel isย required; experience using V-Look-up is a plusย 

  • Strong understanding of online sales platforms and digital marketing strategiesย 

  • Expertiseย in digital marketing techniques, including SEO, SEM, and social media marketingย 

  • Proficient in web analytics tools and e-commerce tracking toolsย 

  • Knowledge of UX/UI principles and how theyย impactย online salesย 

  • Familiarity with Shopify is a plusย 

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to a fast-paced, evolving industryย 

  • Solid communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyย 

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to derive actionable insights from dataย
