Requirements

 RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Assist the Branch Manager in day-to-day leadership and continuous improvement deployment within the team, being an innovator of positive change that favorably impacts safety, quality, on-time delivery, profitability, inventory turns, lead-time, customer satisfaction and team morale. Effectiveness is measured primarily through value stream metrics (Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost) performance.
  • Assist in leading the Continuous Improvement effort for the assigned Value Stream(s), using tools such as: Team Improvement Boards (TIB's), 5S, auditing and layered auditing, etc. 
  • Assist in leading and supervising production, and work closely with quality, production control, purchasing, sales, engineering, and customers to meet or exceed customer needs and to achieve company goals.
  • Assist Branch Manager to analyze problems, account for variances, drive for root cause and implement improved methods and procedures, create, review and update improvement plans, at a minimum, on a monthly basis.
  • Allocate the necessary resources (people, equipment, inventory, etc.) to meet external and internal commitments while maintaining budgetary control.
  • Develop key employees, participate in company dialogues regarding employee performance to ensure that deserving employees are recognized and that under-performing employees are given the direction required to improve their performance.
  • Responsible for assuring inventory accuracy along with training all team members on inventory moves and adjustments.
  • Ability to operate and train others on all DFW equipment.
  • Support Branch Manager in ensuring order accuracy and on time delivery.

QUALIFICATION

  • High School Diploma or GED. 
  • A minimum of one year lead or formal leadership experience in a manufacturing production environment preferred.
  • Preference given to candidates with additional training in leadership, supervision, lean processes and/or continuous improvement. Six Sigma certification ideal.
  • Proven skill to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees across all functions of the organization.
  • Ability to effectively organize an area of responsibility, delegate appropriate authority and review the work performance of direct reports in a manner conductive to efficient performance and high morale.
  • Basic computer skills, to accurately gather and input data from various computer systems. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems preferred.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS

  • Exposure to noise, sparks, smoke, fumes, and heat in a production environment.
  • Perform work standing on concrete for up to 12 hours per day. Also, frequent use of a computer requiring the ability to type on a keyboard and use a mouse to gather and input job information from various software packages. Regularly required to sit, bend, stoop, and grab.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, purchase orders, job orders, dispatch lists, maintenance instructions or procedure manuals.  
  • Ability to communicate effectively with leadership, peers, subordinates, customers and vendors.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of specifications and information furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals and fractions. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
  • Ability to perform precise measurements using a tape measure, caliper, square and/or weld gages.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs occasionally.  
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Willingness to train or work during hours outside of regularly scheduled shift as necessary.
