Job description

We are seeking a Cost Optimization Analyst - FinOps to join our Digital Foundation Solutions Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) US team. This role is pivotal in enhancing business value by ensuring efficient and transparent cloud financial operations for both public and private cloud. You will be responsible for driving financial accountability, cost transparency and cloud resource optimization across our organization. Working cross functionally with technical, financial and business stakeholders, you will ensure cloud costs are managed effectively while supporting strategic decision making.
Role and responsibilities
  • Manage hybrid cloud spend in relation to life cycle management for private cloud and workload management for public cloud.
  • Manage Flexera access as the cloud cost monitoring tool ensuring cloud cost data accuracy allocated at billing data, and workload level.
  • Provide Cloud usage optimization recommendation based on data insights and best practices to enable workload teams to implement cost saving measures and operational improvements.
  • Deliver monthly reporting and dashboards displaying cloud cost, utilization and performance metrics to stakeholders.
  • Develop forecasting model to deliver future cloud spend based.
  • Plan and lead stakeholder sessions including onboarding new cost managers, cost center owner, cost owners and align with broader Cloud Cost Management Community.
  • Organize knowledge sharing initiatives to address cloud financial knowledge gaps.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Management, Data Analytics / Science Accounting, or related field (for Cloud Financial Manager roles). Master's preferred.
  • 5+ years experience in FinOps, with focus Cloud Financial management.
  • Hands on experience with cloud platform (Azure/GCP) and cost management tools (preferably Flexera - a nice to have not a must).
  • Strong understating of cloud pricing models and commitment management.
  • Analytical mindset with ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Skills
  • Passionate about FinOps and enabling customers to use cloud in an efficient way.
  • Hands-on and can do mentality.
  • Able to express ideas effectively in individual and group situations (including non-verbal communication); adjusting language or terminology to the characteristics and needs of the audience, and the ability to listen effectively to others and give constructive feedback to others.
  • Able to operate independently and show ownership.
  • Ability to interact with all levels including engineers, executives and senior managers.
  • Deep technical knowledge of FinOps/ Cloud cost management.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analytics tools (SQL, Python, PowerShell).
  • Ability to overcome organizational resistance.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, projects and assignments.
  • Analytical, precise, tenacious, autonomous.
  • Strong documentation skills.

  • This position is located on-site in San Diego, CA . It requires onsite presence to attend in-person work-related events, trainings and meetings and to further ensure teamwork, collaboration and innovation.
  • A flexible workplace arrangement may be available to employees working in roles conducive to remote work (up to two days a week).
  • Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Occasionally required to move around the campus.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The current base annual salary range for this role is currently:
$89,250-133,875
Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
The Company offers employees and their families, medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to participate in the Company's 401k plan. Employees will also receive eight (8) hours of vacation leave every month and (13) paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
