Cost basis refers to the original value of an asset for tax purposes, which is used to determine capital gains or losses when the asset is sold. These associates ensure accurate record-keeping, assist with tax reporting, and help clients comply with IRS regulations. They often work within financial institutions, brokerage firms, or accounting departments, and are knowledgeable about tax laws and financial systems.
