Accountant
Rubicon is seeking an Accountant supporting the Polyurethanes Division located in Geismar. This position will report to the Sr. Accountant/Accounting Manager.
Job Scope
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience to join our finance team in a dynamic chemical manufacturing environment. This role supports core accounting functions including financial reporting, cost accounting, and indirect cost analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and a proactive approach to identifying cost drivers and improving financial efficiency. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate tracking of indirect costs, support budgeting efforts, and contribute to the integrity of our financial operations.
In summary, as the Accountant, you will:
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations and supporting schedules
  • Support the month-end close process
  • Assist with audits and ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies by preparing documentation and responding to auditor queries
  • Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting processes
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting
  • Prepare and provide analyses of cost variances
  • Assist in the preparation of management reports
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to management
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within the accounting function
  • Participate in budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Support inventory accounting and cost analysis related to chemical production
  • Assist with special projects and ad hoc analysis as required

Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Minimum 2 years experience in public accounting or industrial accounting
  • CPA or meet qualifications to take CPA exam
  • Unrestricted right to work in the United States
