Building Location:Peerless BuildingDepartment:1007010 DECISION SUPPORT - EH SSJob Description:The Senior Decision Support Analyst is responsible for the development, maintenance, and design specifications of healthcare cost accounting functions and report build utilizing the decision support system, benchmarking tools, and other business intelligence related tools. Supports and reinforces key initiatives within the organization through education and communication with clinical and operational leaders. Organizes and presents quantitative and actionable information to facilitate understanding and illuminate decision making for organizational leaders.Education Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs cost accounting system development and maintenance, including design and implementation of process improvements and advanced methodologies

  • Performs a broad range of financial analysis for assigned areas

  • Conducts complex financial analysis upon longitudinal patient conditions and services as assigned

  • Develops and maintains analytical methodologies, tools, and data

  • Provides technical expertise to other staff involved in data analysis; acting as a liaison between finance and operational/clinical leaders to ensure they have relevant tools and data and understand how to use them

  • Serves the organization as technical and subject matter expert for areas in which they work

  • Mentor and support team members on the monthly cost accounting process, assist in answering their questions as they grow their experience

  • Leads complex projects, often serving in the role of project manager

  • Proactively brings forward utilization, cost variation, or other financial opportunities

  • Acts as liaison to clinical and operational leaders and build connectivity and partnerships with other support partners

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, health informatics, computer science, management information systems, statistics, or technology/healthcare related field

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience working in healthcare accounting, data development, and data analysis

  • Prior experience in healthcare, financial or EMR systems, including business intelligence tools. Examples include, but are not limited to: Registries, Slicer/Dicer, Crystal Reports, SQL, Tableau, Qlik, MS Excel (intermediate to advanced), other analytic toolsets

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong experience with healthcare cost accounting and decision support systems (StrataJazz, EPSi)

  • Experience with healthcare general ledger, revenue cycle, coding and classification systems, reimbursement systems and methodologies

  • Experience with understanding clinical language, clinical classification methods and tools and appropriately connecting longitudinal clinical population data to associated financial data

  • Experience building end user analytical tools such as Tableau, Power BI, other reporting tools

Remote Nature:

  • This position functions 100% remotely, however, preference will be given to candidates who sit within our service areas (Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin)
