Job description

Company Overview: The Ultra-met Company is a manufacturer and distributor of tungsten carbide products for use in a wide range of industries such as the automotive, aerospace, medical, petroleum, and woodworking industries.
Job Description: Ultra-met is looking for an organized and experienced Accounting Cost Controller to join our accounting department. The position will prepare and post journal entries in the General Ledger for financial closing. The Cost Controller will prepare financial statements, support schedules, and reconcile all asset and liability accounts.
Cost Controller Responsibilities:
Primary
  • Maintain standard costs (direct, indirect, WIP, etc.) including inventory controls
  • Maintain fixed assets system
  • Inventory reserve calculations:
    • Monthly WIP reserves
    • Quarterly slow moving
    • Unusual observations
  • Manufacturing variances
  • Close the books—enter and maintain monthly journal entries
  • Prepare financial statements and support manufacturing/operations with financial analysis
  • Maintain data in the ERP system - Global Shop Solutions
  • Generate data and presentation materials for board meetings
  • Prepare schedules and assist auditors for annual financial review
  • Maintain the administrative tasks associated with the 401(k)
  • Create and maintain Global Shop user profiles
  • Instrumental in driving business results
  • Other accounting support duties as assigned

  • Back-up treasury support
  • Assist in budget and forecast preparations
  • Back-up other positions in the accounting department such as CFO, Accounting Specialist, and Accounting Assistant
Qualifications and Competencies:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration
  • MS Office and knowledge of accounting software platforms, expert user in Excel preferred
  • Knowledge of cost accounting and bookkeeping principles and procedures (GAAP)
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, creative thinking and customer service skills
  • The ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills
Physical Demands:
  • Primarily sedentary use of a computer and typical office equipment
  • Typical desk work (involves use of hands for grasping and fine motor skills)
  • Walking, bending, squatting, and reaching occasionally
  • Daily exposure to plant environment (walking to meeting locations, inventory and processing questions, etc.)
  • Lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds occasionally
  • Vision: close and distant vision, peripheral, depth, and ability to adjust and focus
