Senior Data Testing Engineer - Snowflake & AI Testing
Job Summary
Cognizant is seeking an experienced Senior Data Testing Engineer to join our Data Engineering and Quality Assurance team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality, integrity, reliability, and performance of enterprise data platforms, data pipelines, and AI-powered solutions.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Snowflake, advanced SQL, and automated data testing methodologies, along with experience validating complex ETL/ELT pipelines. This role requires a strong quality mindset, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality data products. Experience or familiarity with Snowflake Cortex AI and AI testing practices is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated testing frameworks for data platforms, data warehouses, data lakes, and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Validate data transformations and business rules to ensure accuracy, completeness, consistency, and integrity across systems.
  • Perform source-to-target data validation, reconciliation, and end-to-end data quality testing.
  • Develop and execute complex SQL queries to validate data models, transformations, and reporting outputs.
  • Conduct performance validation and testing to ensure efficient utilization of Snowflake resources and optimal platform performance.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering, Analytics, Product, and Business teams to define testing strategies and quality standards.
  • Integrate automated testing solutions into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and rapid deployment of data assets.
  • Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects through resolution while driving root-cause analysis and process improvements.
  • Support testing and validation of AI-driven data solutions, including applications leveraging Snowflake Cortex AI capabilities.
  • Create and maintain test plans, test cases, automation assets, and quality metrics documentation.
  • Mentor and guide junior QA and Data Testing Engineers on testing best practices, automation techniques, and Snowflake technologies.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on data quality, testing efficiency, and engineering excellence.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in Data Quality Assurance, Data Testing, or Data Engineering with a significant focus on testing and validation.
  • Deep hands-on experience with Snowflake, including architecture, data structures, performance optimization, and best practices.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and experience developing complex queries for data validation and analysis.
  • Strong experience testing complex ETL/ELT pipelines and modern data integration solutions.
  • Experience working with tools and frameworks such as dbt, Fivetran, or similar data engineering technologies.
  • Experience designing and implementing automated data testing frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and data quality principles.
  • Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD environments.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with experience working in Agile delivery teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience or strong familiarity with Snowflake Cortex AI.
  • Experience testing AI, machine learning, or generative AI-enabled applications.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based data architectures and modern data platforms.
  • Experience with data observability, monitoring, and quality management tools.
