A correctional phlebotomist performs all of the responsibilities involved in the drawing and testing of blood. In this career, you work exclusively with inmates in the department of corrections. You travel to a prison to collect samples and transfer specimens to the lab. Your duties are to prepare patients for the procedure, use proper patient identification, perform venipuncture and finger sticks, draw blood, correctly label samples with date and name, deliver blood for testing, and clean and maintain all equipment. Some phlebotomists also centrifuge blood samples, but this depends on the state.
| Aspect | Correctional Phlebotomist | Correctional Nurse |
