Resident Care Specialist

Kalkaska, Michigan

$17 an hour

3 Shifts available: Day – evening – overnight – 8, 10, 12 hour shifts

Training in med pass preferred

Join Cornerstone Staffing Solutions in making a meaningful impact on the lives of residents by providing compassionate and dedicated care. We’re seeking a Resident Care Specialist to support daily living activities, perform essential housekeeping, and administer medications under physician orders. This role is vital in ensuring residents feel respected, cared for, and treated with dignity.

Key Responsibilities:

· Assistance with Daily Living

· Aid residents with bathing, hair and mouth care, nail care, dressing, and personal hygiene.

· Support residents with ambulation and encourage engagement in physical activities.

· Assist with turning, repositioning, toileting, and monitoring for incontinence.

· Encourage and assist with fluid and food intake, ensuring nutritional needs are met.

· Participate in or lead recreational activities, promoting resident engagement.

· Housekeeping and Dining Assistance

· Complete kitchen and dining tasks, including meal preparation, serving, cleanup, and setting tables.

· Perform general housekeeping and laundry duties to maintain a clean and comfortable environment.

· Medication Administration

· Check and administer prescribed medications per company policies.

· Ensure medication records (MAR) are accurate, reporting any changes or discrepancies to the Resident Care Manager.

· Coordinate medication orders and reorders as needed.

· Resident Safety and Reporting

· Monitor and report changes in resident behavior or condition, such as weight changes or signs of neglect.

· Maintain a safe environment, complying with facility improvement initiatives.

· Collect data and participate in performance improvement reporting as assigned.

· Ethics and Professionalism

· Uphold ethical standards and confidentiality (in accordance with HIPAA).

· Display a respectful and caring attitude toward residents, families, and co-workers.

· Actively support and communicate Cornerstone Staffing Solutions' mission, values, and culture.

Qualifications:

· Education: High School diploma or GED required. Certified Medication Aide (CMA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.

· Experience: Prior experience with elderly care is preferred.

· Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills.

General Requirements:

· Reports To: Resident Care Manager or Administrator

· Environment: 100% Inside

· Physical Demands: Ability to perform one- and two-person transfers/lifts, reposition residents, and operate medication carts.

· Attendance: Compliant with attendance policies; attendance at scheduled staff meetings required.
