Responsibilities:

Technical Expertise

  • Serve as the team's subject matter expert for complex wealth planning matters impacting HNW and UHNW clients. Identify, design, and deliver sophisticated planning analyses and recommendations tailored to families with $10M+ in investable assets.

  • Lead planning discussions related to:

    • Retirement and cash flow planning

    • Income tax planning and tax-efficient wealth strategies

    • Estate planning and wealth transfer techniques

    • Trust structures and trust optimization

    • Generational wealth transfer and family legacy planning

    • Charitable and philanthropic planning

    • Asset protection and risk management

    • Business succession and liquidity event planning

    • Executive compensation and concentrated stock strategies

  • Communicate sophisticated planning concepts in a clear, practical, and client-friendly manner.

Advisor Partnership & Client Engagement

  • Work closely alongside Wealth Advisors as the planning expert with the firm's most complex client relationships.

  • Support business development efforts by demonstrating the firm's advanced planning capabilities to prospective clients and referral partners.

  • Support advisors in deepening client relationships through comprehensive and proactive planning.

  • Serve as a trusted technical resource for advisors and internal team members.

  • Identify issues and planning opportunities for review and discussion with clients and clients' advisors.

Enterprise Impact

  • Coach and counsel advisors on financial planning strategies via formal training or as part of client relationship reviews.

  • Become a subject matter expert, staying current on planning issues, communicating updates to staff, and contributing content to the Firm's thought leadership

  • Contribute to the Firm's strategic direction of its wealth planning service offering.

  • Mentor planners and help drive their development

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in advanced financial planning, private wealth management, family office, or UHNW advisory.

  • Significant experience advising families with $10M+ in investable assets.

  • Deep expertise in tax planning, estate planning, and multigenerational wealth transfer strategies.

  • Experience collaborating with estate attorneys, CPAs, and other external professional advisors.

  • Proficiency with financial planning, estate, and tax projection software; eMoney, Holistiplan, Vanilla, etc..

  • Professional, personable, tactful, efficient, and self-motivated.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and desire to work in a team based collaborative environment.

  • Not just a proficient technician. Experience presenting to clients in a competent, confident, persuasive, and empathetic manner. Able to formulate knowledgeable and convincing answers to tough questions on the spot.

  • Strong organizational skills, multitasking, accuracy, service-minded, and meticulous adherence to details required.

Education & Credentials

  • Bachelor's degree and Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation required.

  • Additional advanced credentials such as CPA, JD, CPWA, or CTFA are highly valued

This position is exempt and is paid according to the laws of the Texas or California depending on the final position location. The pay range for this position is $125,000 - $200,000 USD per year. We are required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

Physical Requirements

  • This position requires the physical capabilities to work in an office environment, which may include prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Corient seeks to make reasonable accommodations that enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential duties when possible.
  • This position may require the ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
  • This position is required to work onsite 4 days per week.

U.S. Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States. For U.S. employment opportunities, Corient hires U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Exceptions to these requirements will be determined based on shortage of qualified candidates with a particular skill. Corient will require proof of work authorization.
  • Corient participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S. If E-Verify cannot confirm that you are authorized to work, this employer is required to give you written instructions and an opportunity to contact Department of Homeland Security (DHS) or Social Security Administration (SSA) so you can begin to resolve the issue before the employer can take any action against you, including terminating your employment. Employers can only use E-Verify once you have accepted a job offer and completed the Form I-9.
