U.S. Bellows, a division of Piping Technology & Products, Inc. (PT&P), is a leading manufacturer of engineered expansion joints and bellows for piping systems. Serving industries such as oil & gas, power generation, and chemical processing, U.S. Bellows is known for precision fabrication, quality workmanship, and reliable solutions that protect critical infrastructure.


Position Summary

The Fitter/Welder – TIG & Flux Core is responsible for fitting, aligning, and welding metallic bellows, expansion joints, and related components in accordance with engineered drawings, Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), and applicable codes. This role requires strong fitting skills, proficiency in TIG and Flux Core welding, and a high level of attention to detail to produce high-quality, code-compliant assemblies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Fit, assemble, and weld bellows and expansion joint components, including convolutions, pipe ends, flanges, liners, and hardware
  • Read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, tolerances, and specifications
  • Perform proper fit-up for welding, including joint preparation, alignment, and root openings
  • Weld using GTAW (TIG) and FCAW (Flux Core) in accordance with approved WPS
  • Produce high-quality, multi-pass welds meeting ASME and customer requirements
  • Measure, mark, cut, grind, and prepare materials for fabrication
  • Maintain required preheat and interpass temperature controls when applicable
  • Support and pass NDE inspections (PT, MT, RT, UT as required) and perform approved weld repairs
  • Verify dimensional accuracy and alignment before and after welding
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, fixtures, forklifts, and overhead cranes
  • Complete travelers, weld logs, and traceability documentation
  • Follow all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must pass company-administered welding and fitting tests
  • Must pass company-administered measuring tape skills test
  • 3+ years of welding and fitting experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
  • Proficient in TIG (GTAW) and Flux Core (FCAW) welding
  • Experience welding carbon steel and stainless steel (Inconel a plus, if applicable)
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret fabrication drawings and production documentation in English
  • Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods (8+ hours)
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs independently
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and manual handling of materials
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Visual acuity to read measuring tools, drawings, and identify weld or fit-up defects
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including steel-toe boots, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection
  • Must pass initial and ongoing occupational health screenings as required

Work Environment

Manufacturing shop environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts, sharp materials, heat, dust, and moderate to loud noise. Work schedules may include overtime or weekend shifts based on production demands.
