Job Description

We're looking for an experienced Engineer to join our growing Systems Engineering department. As part of an Integrated Product Team (IPT) you will develop highly reliable systems and devices for our customers. You will be responsible for the assessment, development, derivation, & decomposition of requirements which meet stakeholder goals, internal needs, & industry limits.

Your background in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering will be instrumental in concepting and trading system architectures for highly reliable products in the mission and safety critical end uses. Using core Systems Engineering principles (e.g. holistic view, technical influence, consideration of all interactions, focus on entire life cycle, decision making when accounting for uncertainty) you will drive the IPT to the most appropriate solution for technical, cost, & schedule purposes.

In conjunction with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and the program IPT, you will develop risk mitigation plans to reduce uncertainty in meeting program deliverables. Both independently and as part of a cross-functional team you will create verification plans to ensure all associated interfaces and test tolerances are fully assessed; this will include both electrical and mechanical interfaces.

The System Engineer reports to the Systems Engineering Lead or Systems Engineering Manager and will be located in Simsbury, CT.

Responsibilities:

  • Decompose functional requirements and define / maintain specifications for electronic and mechanical products.
  • Ensure technical adherence to all requirements with internal and external stakeholders during the development process
  • Collaborate cross functionally to identify critical requirements and risks throughout the program life cycle.
  • Identify critical interfaces and boundaries, and develop interface verification plans
  • Facilitate and lead the creation, review, and maintenance of the requirements verification matrix, risk register, and risk mitigation plans
  • Ensure disciplined maintenance of the requirements management tool, including verification plans and objective evidence
  • Drive regular reviews of the project's risks, risk mitigation plans, and risk reduction activities
  • Communicate and flow down requirements to the IPT and gain concurrence on verification methods

Requirements:

  • BS/MS in an engineering discipline required; Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience analyzing and developing system, sub-system, and component requirements in the aerospace, automotive, or defense industry
  • Previous experience leading cross function teams through requirements management and verification activities
  • Systems engineering education, certification, and affiliations desired
  • Requirements management experience required, DOORS or DOORS Next Gen preferred
