Position Summary:
  • The position is within the Core Lab and has a specific focus on chemistry and or hematology. Technologist trained as generalists may be assigned to any area or combination of areas. Technologist trained in a specialty will be assigned to the area of their specialty only.

Location:
  • Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, MD

Schedule:
  • 7:00 - 3:30 pm, every other weekend (2 openings)
  • 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm, every other weekend (1 opening)

Responsibilities
  • Accurately performs routine and special clinical laboratory tests in the Core Laboratory (Chemistry & Hematology).
  • Performs tests requiring independent judgment with minimal supervision.
  • Has the capacity to operate clinical laboratory equipment in the completion of automated and manual procedures.
  • Must have knowledge and proficiency in Sysmex XN3000, CS2500, and iris/Clinitek in regards to Hematology and/or Roche Cobas analyzers in regards to chemistry and blood testing.
  • Must have knowledge and proficiency in Chepheid analyzer for micro tests.

Qualifications
Must meet one or more of the following requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology from an accredited college or university.
  • Successful completion 3 years of academic study (minimum of 90 semester hours) which met specific requirements for entrance into a school of medical technology and has successfully completed a course of trainingof at least 12 months in such a school.
  • Bachelor's Degree in one of the chemical, physical or biological sciences and has at least 1 year of pertinent full-time laboratory experience and/or training in the specialty or sub-specialty in which the individual performs tests.
  • Successful completion of 3 years (90 semester hours) of college with the following distribution of courses
  • Certification through ASCP or AMT as an MT, CLS, or MLS is required.
