Summary

The Case Assistant, working in collaboration with and in support of the firm's strategic initiatives, assists the paralegals and/or attorneys in the Trademark, Copyright, and Media group by maintaining case files, preparing documents for production, organizing and maintaining case or other files, updating and maintaining databases, preparing closing books, obtaining information for internal and external sources and performing other administrative tasks.
Location

This position is located in our Washington, DC office and offers a hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities

  • Organizes document production for attorney review.

  • Researches public records using public websites.

  • Gathers cases and exhibits from files for incorporation into briefs.

  • Assists with preparing a variety of documents, forms, charts, letters, etc.

  • Prepares binders, prepares closing books, makes copies, enters data and maintains files.

  • Performs database research and data entry.

  • Obtains documents and other information from cities, municipalities or public agencies.

  • Obtains information from accounting, timekeeping and attorneys for audit letter responses.

  • Assists paralegals and attorneys with mailings and filings.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Desired Skills

Demonstrated basic level of proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and database experience. Office experience in a law firm environment supporting paralegals and/or attorneys preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required to interact with paralegals, attorneys and clients on a regular basis. Excellent organizational and attention-to-detail skills necessary to manage volumes of documents, binders, letters, charts, etc. Must have the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to prioritize multiple assignments to meet deadlines.
Minimum Education

  • High School diploma or GED.

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor's Degree.

Minimum Years of Experience

  • 1 year demonstrated success working in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work Environment

The firm's expected hiring range for this position is $34.09 - $44.32 per hour depending on the candidate's geographic market location. Non-exempt positions will be paid on an hourly basis and paid overtimein accordance withapplicable laws.

The compensation offered for employment will also be dependent on other factors including the candidate's experience, skills, educational and professional background, and overall qualifications. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k).
