Job description

Praytell is a creative communications agency made up of strategic minds, spirited hearts and people with a strong instinctive recoil from anything remotely boring. We create culture-driven, integrated work that earns attention, sparks conversation and makes people... well, give a shit. But more than that, we're a team of curious builders, thoughtful challengers and collaborative problem-solvers who believe the best work starts with a simple question: what if we?
What if we pushed the idea further? Solved the problem differently? Built something better?
Our work moves fast, evolves constantly and rarely fits neatly inside a box - which is exactly how we like it. The people who thrive here ask questions, chase ideas, spot opportunities and care enough to go beyond the brief. They don't wait for a perfect roadmap or a tap on the shoulder - they're energized by figuring things out, making things better and helping shape what comes next.
We hold ourselves to a high bar, but we're not pretending to be a perfect agency filled with perfect people doing perfect work 100% of the time. We're humans. Sometimes the work runs late. Sometimes the process is still being built. Sometimes there isn't a policy, playbook or perfect answer for every little thing. What we do have is a genuine commitment to getting better - evolving how we work, support our people and build the kind of agency we want to be, together.
So that's our promise to you. If curiosity drives you, ownership excites you and "what if we?" feels more like a life mantra than a question - we'd love to hear from you.
The Opportunity
Overview:
  • Dates: Tuesday, September 8 - Friday, February 26 (six-month internship)
  • Hours: Monday - Friday, 9am - 6pm local time, with a commitment of 40 hours/week
  • Location: New York. This is a hybrid role, with interns expected to work from the office approximately once per week and attend in-person client events, activations or team needs as they come up.
  • Pay: $19/hour, with overtime eligibility
  • Benefits: Since you're expected to work more than 30 hours/week, you will be eligible for medical insurance. You will also receive 40 hours of paid sick time, which will be frontloaded at the start of your employment.
  • Commitment: This is designed as a full-time internship, so candidates should be available during standard business hours throughout the six-month program
  • Post-Internship: While there may be an opportunity to transition into a full-time role following the internship, it is not guaranteed and will depend on individual performance and company needs

As a PR & Social Media Intern, you will:
  • Support integrated PR and social account teams across a range of brands and industries
  • Keep a pulse on culture, news and social trends to help spot timely opportunities for clients
  • Build media and creator lists and researching relevant reporters, editors, newsletters, podcasts and influencers
  • Take a first pass at pitches, press releases, media materials, social copy, blogs and other client materials
  • Support media outreach and pitching, including personalizing outreach, tracking responses and helping with follow-ups
  • Monitor media coverage and social conversation, flagging notable coverage and helping pull together reports and recaps
  • Research competitors, audiences, industry news and cultural trends to support PR and social planning
  • Support social content calendars, community management, trend spotting and day-to-day social execution
  • Contribute ideas to brainstorms for PR moments, social content, partnerships, activations and other creative opportunities
  • Participate in client calls and internal meetings, helping prepare agendas, take notes and track next steps
  • Keep account dashboards, calendars, media lists and activity trackers organized and up to date
  • Coordinate product shipments and mailers to media and creators
  • Support events, activations, shoots and other client moments with planning, logistics and on-the-ground execution
  • Collaborate with teammates across departments, including Integrated Communications, Influencer, Creative and Strategy to learn how integrated campaigns come together
What You Bring
  • No prior professional experience required! We're looking for curious, motivated people who are excited to learn, jump in and get hands-on experience alongside some of the best in the industry. Previous internships, agency experience or relevant coursework are a plus, but absolutely not required.
  • You're a recent graduate or early in your career and looking to build real-world experience in creative communications, PR and social media.
  • You're curious about brands, culture, media and social and naturally pay attention to what people are talking about.
  • You're a strong communicator, organized and comfortable juggling multiple projects and priorities.
  • You're eager to learn, ask questions, contribute ideas and take on new challenges.
  • You're able to commit to the full six-month internship and 40-hour workweek.
