SUMMARY

The Steward works closely with the cafรฉ leadership team to deliver Copa Vidaโ€™s brand of hospitality to every guest. A person in this role works all bar positions, prepares drinks and batch ingredients to company standards, and maintains cleanliness and organization throughout the cafe. The Steward is a strong team player who is able to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and practices
  • Display professionalism, and teamwork at all times; work to fulfill Copa Vidaโ€™s core purpose, competency, and values (our Three Cs), and contribute to maintaining positive morale throughout the cafรฉ
  • Deliver Copa Vidaโ€™s standard of hospitality to every guest and follow established steps of service during all interactions
  • Work all bar stations, including espresso machine, register, and barback positions, etc.
  • Maintain a brisk pace of work to meet service demands and cafรฉ goals
  • Meet established quality and presentation standards, and ticket times
  • Follow recipes, methods of preparation, and standard operating procedures
  • Promptly alert manager of needs and instances of low supply
  • Receive, verify, and stock deliveries
  • Perform opening, mid, and closing duties thoroughly, accurately, and on time
  • Follow cleaning schedules and maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout service
  • Assist with running and bussing as needed
  • Assist with training staff as directed
  • Participate in ongoing training, including coaching and mentorship from leadership
  • Be in-uniform and ready to work at the scheduled start of every shift
  • Attend mandatory company meetings, trainings, and events
  • Maintain flexible availability to meet dynamic scheduling needs


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Regularly taste and evaluate coffee and tea
  • Talk, hear, and stand for extended periods of time

  • Use sharp kitchen utensils and equipment

ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a fast-paced cafรฉ/kitchen environment. This role routinely uses a variety of coffee and tea brewing equipment, grinders, sinks, and dishwashers, and cooking equipment, as well as tools to calibrate and clean them. Employees in this role are frequently exposed to hot liquids, potentially slippery floors, and cleaning chemicals. Noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.


TRAVEL

Occasional travel may be required for off-site meetings, training, and events.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 1 year of specialty coffee experience preferred
