Description
Purpose
Area owner of Green End through Refining to include equipment reliability, process improvement, team training, and cost performance. Equipment within area of responsibility: Boiler, Thermal Oil System, Refiner, Dryers, W.E.S.P, RTO, Wood Yard, Rolling Stock.
This role serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Heat Plant/Boiler Operations, Water Chemistry, Refining Process, Thermal Oil Operations, Particulate and Air Control Devices.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure adherence to company safety and environmental values
  • Optimize Equipment to minimize risk and maximize performance
  • Develop systems to achieve 95% uptime performance of all systems within scope of responsibility
  • Establish long term maintenance strategies to ensure optimal performance
  • Develop team training to empower the development of all members to achieve expert understanding of the process and equipment functionality
  • Manage the department or area budget and forecast budgetary requirements
  • Develop and manage raw material recipes to maximize product performance and minimize waste
  • Act as the primary liaison with the procurement team to manage raw material inventory and coordinate purchases
  • Optimize manufacturing processes to minimize costs while maximizing quality and output, focusing on efficient usage of Steam, Gas, Wood, and Water Consumption Manage and drive departmental targets and performance indicators, including measuring department indicators and communicating with all team members
  • Schedule and manage workflow and utilize personnel to accomplish the plant's business objectives
  • Manage all inventories within area of responsibility (raw material, finished goods, and operating supplies)

Required Qualifications
  • Five years manufacturing experience or an equivalent amount of experience, training and education
  • Ability to obtain boiler license
  • Demonstrated experience with Heat Plant Operations (Boiler, Thermal Oil, Kiln, Etc)
  • Demonstrated experience with Water Treatment (Chemistry, RO, Water Softener)
  • Experience with Process Trend Software (Historian, Ignition, Rockwell, Siemens)
  • Ability to develop and model programming requirements for optimal performance
  • Ability to coach and lead a diverse workforce
  • Ability to communicate effectively with reports, senior management, and other departments
  • Excellent verbal, listening, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in and maintain a highly functional team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • BA/BS degree (Engineering, Chemistry, Wood Science, Business)
  • SPC/ DOE Certification
  • Wood Products Experience
  • Ability and desire for increased responsibilities
