Job Summary
Provide cooking and nutrition instruction that supports the vision and direction of KSU's Health Promotion and Wellness. Respond to questions from participants and maintain the scope of practice. Demonstrate sound problem-solving and decision-making skills with food allergies, ingredient availability, and dietary food accommodations. Follow food safety protocols and provide students, staff, and faculty with a fun and safe learning environment.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plans, instructs and implements organized class sequences and applies SERV Safe guidelines during all programs
2. Plans, instructs, prepares, and implements cooking demonstration classes for students and the community.
3. Develops and impart culinary, nutrition, and food safety information via in-person activities and recorded activities for online platforms
4. Educates, entertains, and motivates participants to cook and use demonstrated recipes
5. Demonstrates time management skills and attention to detail; plan and implement organized class sequences so sessions begin and end on time.
6. Provides supervision to student assistant(s) or intern(s) and manage kitchen set up and clean up before and after each class
7. Accommodates participants with food allergies and other unique dietary restrictions as needed
8. Completes paperwork and communicates updates to supervisor and peers on a regular basis
9. Creates a welcoming environment and provides a high level of customer service
10. Encourages program participants to improve food choices and healthy lifestyle behaviors
11. Educates participants with varying knowledge, interests, and abilities
