Are you a hands-on food service professional who enjoys creating a welcoming dining experience?

General Summary: The Cook serves the mission of the Sisters of Divine Providence by preparing wholesome, flavorful, and well-presented meals that nourish both body and spirit. This role supports the dining experience by transforming ingredients into high-quality meals while collaborating closely with the Prep Cook/Line Server and Steward to maintain a smooth, hospitable, and efficient kitchen.

Reports to: Director of Food Service

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to established menus, recipes, and dietary needs of the community.
  • Ensure meals are cooked to proper standards and temperatures, maintaining both quality and safety.
  • Coordinate with Prep Cook/Line Server and Steward to ensure timely meal production, presentation, and service.
  • Assist in planning and adjusting recipes to accommodate dietary restrictions, special events, or community preferences.
  • Monitor inventory, communicate supply needs, and support the rotation of ingredients to ensure freshness.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all kitchen work areas, cooking equipment, and utensils.
  • Follow all food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures, including allergy-prevention protocols.
  • Support team members and contribute to a positive, respectful, and mission-focused kitchen environment.

Other Responsibilities/Duties

  • Assist in training new kitchen staff to uphold standards of quality, service, and hospitality.
  • Be reliable and present for all scheduled shifts, offering help wherever needed.
  • Address kitchen or service issues proactively and communicate promptly with the Director of Food Service.
  • Adapt to additional duties as assigned to support smooth dining operations.
