Job description

The primary purpose of the position is to act as an ambassador for the kitchen, representing all Outlets and Canad Inns. The Cook 3 (Buffet Attendant/Prep Cook) serves the public with a professional, friendly and upbeat attitude. The Cook 3 (Buffet Attendant/Prep Cook) monitors and maintains the hot and cold buffets, and will take the considerations and requests of guests above all other duties. The Cook 3 may also be required to complete the responsibilities of the Kitchen Steward in the absence of one.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivered friendly and professional customer service by addressing guest inquiries and dietary questions.
  • Anticipated guest needs and ensured a positive dining experience.
  • Assist with the development of cost control systems to reduce waste in food, supplies, and labour.
  • Assist the Cook as necessary.
  • Maintained food quality and safety standards by ensuring hot foods remained hot and cold foods remained properly chilled.
  • Cook omelets, sauté stations, prepare cold buffet, banquet salads, platters, prep, dish up food and prep where required.
  • Properly wrapped, labeled, and dated food items in accordance with food safety regulations.

  • Able to obtain and maintain Criminal Background Check, Food Handler, and WHMIS certifications.

  • Highly organized, dependable, and reliable.
  • Able to prioritize tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Maintains a professional attitude and positive work ethic.
  • Capable of safely lifting, balancing, and carrying trays or items up to 20 lbs throughout a shift.
