Job description

Viva Memory Care at Dresher | Dresher, PALove to Cook? Make Your Meals Mean More.

Are you a cook who takes pride in preparing great food and making people happy?

At Viva Memory Care at Dresher, our kitchen is more than a place to prepare meals. Food is an important part of our residents' daily lives, and our culinary team plays a meaningful role in their comfort, happiness, and quality of life.

We're looking for a dependable, creative, and caring Cook to join our team.

Why This Isn't Your Typical Cooking Job

Working in senior living gives you the opportunity to:

  • Get to know the people you're cooking for
  • Learn residents' favorite foods and preferences
  • See the impact of your cooking every day
  • Work as part of a supportive team
  • Build relationships with residents and coworkers
  • Create meals that bring people together
  • Make a difference without the late-night restaurant environment

Your food can be more than a meal—it can be a favorite memory, a familiar comfort, or the highlight of someone's day.

What You'll Do

As our Cook, you'll be an important part of creating a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience for our residents.

You'll:

  • Prepare and cook delicious, nutritious meals according to approved menus and recipes
  • Take pride in the quality, flavor, appearance, and presentation of every meal
  • Prepare meals that meet residents' individual dietary needs and preferences
  • Work closely with nursing and leadership to accommodate special diets and changing resident needs
  • Follow recipes, menus, portion guidelines, and established food preparation procedures
  • Maintain proper food temperatures and follow food safety and sanitation requirements
  • Follow ServSafe practices and applicable state and local regulations
  • Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and ready for service
  • Properly store food and supplies and help monitor inventory
  • Work collaboratively with Dining Services and care team members
  • Help create a welcoming dining environment where residents enjoy gathering together
  • Listen to resident feedback and help make meals an enjoyable experience
  • Follow all health, safety, sanitation, and infection prevention procedures
  • Assist with other kitchen and dining responsibilities as needed
Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

  • Loves cooking and takes pride in their food
  • Has previous professional cooking experience
  • Is dependable and takes ownership of their responsibilities
  • Can work independently while also being part of a team
  • Is organized and able to stay on top of multiple tasks
  • Understands the importance of food safety and sanitation
  • Is comfortable preparing meals for individuals with different dietary needs
  • Has a positive attitude and enjoys working with people
  • Treats older adults with patience, kindness, and respect
  • Is willing to work weekends and holidays as needed
Experience

Required:

  • Previous cooking experience
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to follow recipes and menus
  • High school diploma or GED

Preferred:

  • Senior living or assisted living experience
  • Healthcare or memory care experience
  • ServSafe certification

Don't have senior living experience? That's okay!

If you're a good cook, dependable, willing to learn, and enjoy working with people, we'd love to talk with you.

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

  • Stand and move throughout the kitchen for extended periods
  • Bend, reach, push, and pull as needed
  • Safely operate kitchen equipment
  • Lift, push, pull, and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment
Your Cooking Can Make Someone's Day.

Our residents have favorite meals, favorite desserts, foods that remind them of home, and traditions that have been part of their lives for decades.

You have the opportunity to be part of those moments.

If you're ready for a cooking job where your work has purpose, your food is appreciated, and you can make a real difference in people's lives, we want to meet you.

Come Cook With Purpose.

Great food. Meaningful relationships. A team that cares.
