THE POSITION 

The First Line Cook is responsible for assisting with day-to-day operations of the kitchen suites team in an environment that mixes banquet and line cooking together including bulk preparation and fast pate firing. The role requires a strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards and protocols as this role will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Daily cooking and preparation of food using multiple cooking techniques;
  • Prepare hot plates, cold plates, sauces;
  • Perform a variety of butchering tasks such as trimming roasts, cutting ribs, chicken, etc.;
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and use of food inventories;
  • Maintain a high standard of safety and sanitation as governed by standards and protocols;
  • Communicate with kitchen staff, cooks, Suites Chefs, and the executive chef;
  • Follow instructions as directed by supervisors, Suites chef, and the executive chef;
  • Work with other departments and needed
  • Actively participate in safety programs and follow polices;
  • Assist in all areas of the kitchen as required;

    THE INDIVIDUAL 

    The ideal individual will have the following background: 

    • 5+ years restaurant or hotel cook experience required;
    • Strong leadership and mentoring skills;
    • High attention to detail and strong ability to maintain an organized kitchen;
    • Vast knowledge of kitchen terminology;
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once;
    • Strong interpersonal and team work skills.

    CERTIFICATIONS

    • Formal culinary training is considered an asset;
    • High school diploma is considered an asset.
