Job description

Chief Operating Officer – School Services

Brooklyn, NY Based, 2x/week in office, preferred

200-240K

Overview

A growing education services organization is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to lead and scale its School Services division.

This is a high-impact leadership role overseeing an established and growing operation with two major priorities: strengthening the current Title I business and driving expansion into new markets and new educational models. The right person will be responsible for taking high-level vision and turning it into action, while owning execution, financial performance, and long-term growth.

This role requires a leader who can operate strategically, drive accountability, integrate across departments, and build in an entrepreneurial environment without needing layers of bureaucracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the School Services division with full ownership over operations, growth, and financial performance
  • Translate high-level strategy into clear, actionable execution plans
  • Drive P&L performance, budgeting, and overall business health
  • Oversee educational operations, service quality, compliance, and customer experience
  • Lead growth initiatives, expansion strategy, and go-to-market execution
  • Strengthen referral pipelines, sales strategy, and funding opportunities
  • Integrate effectively with shared services and adjacent business units
  • Build, lead, and hold teams accountable in a fast-moving environment

Ideal Candidate

  • Proven senior leadership experience in education services
  • Strong operational expertise paired with growth and business-building experience
  • Experience overseeing a mid-sized or larger organization with real scale and complexity
  • Strong academic / educational background, ideally with formal training in education or special education
  • Deep understanding of educational operations, compliance, and service delivery
  • Entrepreneurial mindset — polished and professional, but not overly corporate
  • Strong people leadership, executive presence, and ability to influence across departments
  • EOS familiarity is a strong plus

What Matters Most

  • Leadership
  • Operational depth
  • Growth experience
  • Industry background
  • Ability to execute vision and scale responsibly
