Continuous Improvement Specialist – Field Installation Operations

Location: Nationwide sites - Remote when not onsite
Travel: 70–80% (Mon–Thurs/Fri)
Compensation: $90,000–$120,000 annually BOE
Reports To: Director of Operations / COO

Role Summary

The Continuous Improvement Specialist improves field installation performance across large and mid-sized material handling system projects. This role serves as an objective field presence focused on installation readiness, standard work compliance, efficient execution, and reduction of rework.

Primary emphasis is on getting installations right from day one—material flow, preassembly, header steel, and conveyor installation—while identifying both site-specific and systemic improvement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate site readiness and early installation execution
  • Verify header steel and conveyor installs are completed correctly the first time
  • Audit adherence to mechanical and electrical installation standards
  • Identify process, training, resource, and customer-driven gaps
  • Assess material flow, staging, and preassembly effectiveness
  • Observe supervisory effectiveness and crew sequencing
  • Identify customer constraints impacting productivity and schedule
  • Observe weekend operations as needed to assess fatigue and process breakdowns
  • Deliver concise, fact-based site reports with risks and improvement actions

Required Experience

  • Hands-on installation experience with:
    • Conveyor systems
    • Structural/header steel
    • Electrical and rack installation
  • Background as a foreman, superintendent, PM, or senior installer
  • Strong understanding of sequencing, material flow, and rework drivers
  • High credibility with field crews and leadership
  • Ability to challenge processes with data—not people

Preferred

  • Lean / Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement training
  • Experience conducting field audits or operational reviews

Travel

  • 70–80% nationwide travel
  • Typical cadence: onsite Monday through Thursday or Friday
  • Weekend observation may be required
