Job description

SUMMARY: The Machine Technician reporting to the Converting Manager, is responsible for preparing and operating various paper product machine and supporting simple equipment and powered industrial vehicles equipped to move finished goods. Principal Responsibilities: Perform safe and efficient equipment operation, achieving targeted production goals and recording accurate data on same Autonomously ensure the safe and reliable operating of the machinery in a preventive and reactive capacity Perform emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment including but not limited to: mechanical, minor electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packing, converting and production machines Perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine downtime/planned service follow standard safety procedures, correct safety and environmental hazards and report them to appropriate supervisor Problem solve minor equipment problems; perform minor adjustments to equipment Monitor and record the quality of product to make sure it is not damaged and up to specifications Prepare machine for product change over by setting correct dimensions on the machine Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment and follow standardized work in a continuous improvement environment Adhere to all safety rules including but not limited to lock out/tag out Safely load and unload items from machines and conveyors Communicate, assist and share knowledge effectively with teammates through collaboration and training Complete necessary training programs within the time frame allowed Develop and train machine operators as required Maintain a clean and orderly work area at all times Requirements: 2+ years of related experience in packing/converting/manufacturing machines Minimum High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) Ability to understand verbal & written instructions in English including, but not limited to the ability to read and comprehend instruction manuals, instruction sheets, training manuals, and other verbal/computer-based training. Ability to troubleshoot equipment Ability to work as a team and independently Must be able to wear all required personal safety equipment including eye protection, safety vest and ear protection Attention to Detail Pass Mechanical Reasoning Test Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs repeatedly Basic Computer Skills Essential Functions: Ability to maintain consistent quality in work performance for extended periods of time Ability to stand, walk, bend or reaching regularly for entire shift Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs repeatedly Equipment Used: Ability to operate equipment such as a Forklift and hand tools Ability to work under conditions that may require use of company provided protective equipment.
