Position Summary:

Directs, promotes, and coordinates the store operations in a manner that will optimize the cooperative’s market share and savings, improve the cooperative’s efficiency, help achieve the cooperative’s mission and goals, and result in outstanding customer service.

Essential Functions:

  • Establishing and communicating store goals and results to employees, staffing the store, and delegating the workload, supporting employee growth, and upholding company policies.
  • Implementing the marketing plan as directed and directing in-store marketing activities.
  • Establishing and achieving store profitability and sales goals and increasing the store’s market share through regular sales efforts.
  • Purchasing products for resale. Establishing prices of products and services. Managing inventory levels. Providing and promoting the service necessary to meet store goals.
  • Maintaining property, facilities, and equipment.
  • Timely entry into the accounting system of all documentation related to inventory, accounting, sales, margins, and budgets. Maintaining controls of all invoicing and stock additions. Submitting all required operational reports to management within the established time limits.
  • Building a team of supervisors and employees capable of effective teamwork, quality customer service, and excellent product expertise.
  • Accurate cash handling procedures and investigation into all inventory and cash discrepancies.

Education:

High School Diploma or GED required

Experience:

  • Minimum (2) two years of experience as a retail store manager in a retail setting or (5) five years of experience as an Assistant Manager in a retail setting.
  • Experience with managing convenience store operations preferred.

Knowledge:

  • Basic understanding of financial statements including profit and loss reports.
  • Maintain knowledge of current developments and trends in areas of expertise.

Skills:

  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are represented of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear. Must be able to stand for 4 hours at a time. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste, and smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift 40 regularly and 50 occasionally. A portion of the work time is outdoors where temperatures can be extreme.

This position does require a pre-hire, post-offer criminal background check, and a drug screen.
