Job description

Summary:
This Millwright role is responsible for assembling and/or repairing equipment and machinery for the John H. Carter Co., Inc. / ControlWorx, LLC (JHC/CWX) Process Pumps & Equipment business unit. This work may include assembling, removing, repairing, transferring and installing typical petrochemical rotating equipment and machinery, including pumps, blowers, agitators, compressors, etc. Millwright activities may take place in the Geismar equipment repair facility and/or at customer sites, mostly within 100 miles.
The incumbent should strive to completely understand the needs and overall goals of both the PPE equipment repair facility and the customer. To be successful, the incumbent must interact and make a personal connection with both internal and external personnel to complete the millwright tasks and deliver quality services.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Utilize precision millwright skills and knowledge to disassemble, inspect, diagnose and repair typical petrochemical rotating equipment, including pumps, blowers, agitators, compressors, etc. This may be completed in the field at customer sites or in the Geismar equipment repair facility.
  • Assemble new rotating equipment for shipment to customers, including precision equipment assembly, coupling and motor installation, equipment alignment, guarding installation, etc.
  • Field activities may include (but are not limited to) removal and/or replacement of rotating equipment, including baseplate replacement, packing/mechanical seal replacement, precision alignment, etc.
  • For both shop and field activities, properly document work scope, including all critical dimensions on appropriate as-found/as-left forms
  • Ability and initiative to potentially manage multiple projects with little oversight
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Available to work overtime and weekends as deemed necessary
  • Able and willing to work on-call and off shift as required by customers and/or management
  • Ability to establish strong relationships with customers and fellow employees
  • Must have a customer service attitude and remain positive in all interactions
Certifications, Education and Experience:
  • Associate Degree, NCCER, or Trade School in craft preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in maintenance, repair, and/or assembly of typical petrochemical rotating equipment; Will consider lesser experience depending upon background, exhibited knowledge level, etc.
  • In-depth, hands-on knowledge of typical petrochemical rotating equipment including (but not limited to) pumps, blowers, agitators, compressors, etc.
