Description

Position Purpose As an Apprentice Controls Electrician, you will help install control devices on various commercial, residential, and industrial jobsites. You will work directly under a Journeyman electrician and gain invaluable work experience. This position will provide you with the work environment necessary to gain the knowledge, hours, and skills which can apply to your formal electrical apprenticeship training requirements. Pay Range: $20.00 - $33.00 per hour, plus potential profit share. Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties or tasks assigned as required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:
  • Learn and assist in the installation of automated control systems according to company temperature control installation procedures.
  • Learn to install control devices efficiently and neatly, including conduit systems (EMT, GRC, PVC, etc.) copper tubing, plastic tubing, and electric cable.
  • Become fully trained in the safe operation of all power tools, hand tools, and instruments necessary for job completion. Appropriately and correctly wear necessary personal protective equipment and abide by all LONG and OSHA safety regulations.
  • Follow instruction by a qualified individual to perform any task or assignment and ensures that all installations are performed in a neat, professional, and skillful manner to the satisfaction of the Field Supervisor. Ask for instruction or guidance before starting any unfamiliar task or assignment.
  • Drive defensively and obey all traffic laws including LONG safe driver policy (avoids all confrontational driving situations).
  • Attend and successfully complete the formal electrical apprenticeship training offered by the company through an independent source and continue to attend product training and information seminars to improve knowledge and skills.
  • Clean and maintain all assigned LONG tools, vehicles, and machinery.
  • Report directly to assigned job sites at beginning of each day (7:00 am unless specifically changed by Field Supervisor/Electrical Manager).
  • Maintain a professional appearance, be punctual and helpful, and assist in other areas as needed including material delivery and handling.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • General mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Basic mathematical and communication skills.
  • Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Availability to work overtime, varied shift hours, and out of town when needed.
  • Ability to operate a company vehicle legally and safely.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years' experience as an Apprentice Electrician
  • OSHA10

Physical Requirements
  • This position may involve standing for extended periods, climbing ladders or scaffolds, and working in tight spaces.
  • This position may require lifting to 50 lbs. from floor to countertop and countertop to floor.
