Position Overview
The Senior Electrical Controls Engineer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and optimization of Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) supporting Fleet Data Centers' hyperscale campuses. This role provides technical leadership across mechanical and electrical controls infrastructure, including central utility plants, generators, fuel systems, chilled water systems, CDUs, and power monitoring systems.
The successful candidate will support projects from concept through commissioning and operations, developing scalable controls architectures, PLC programming, system integration strategies, and operational standards that ensure reliable, efficient, and sustainable data center operations. Working closely with engineering, construction, commissioning, vendors, and operations teams, this individual will help establish Fleet's controls standards and drive continuous improvement across its growing portfolio of mission-critical facilities
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement BMS, EPMS, SCADA, and PLC-based controls solutions for large-scale data center projects.
  • Develop controls software, sequences of operation, system architectures, graphical interfaces, testing procedures, and commissioning documentation.
  • Create controls drawings, panel designs, instrumentation specifications, BOMs, wiring diagrams, and integration documentation.
  • Support installation, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and optimization of controls systems.
  • Partner with internal teams, contractors, vendors, and commissioning agents to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of controls engineering experience, including 3+ years supporting data centers, mission-critical, industrial, or complex infrastructure environments.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming platforms such as Rockwell and Siemens.
  • Proficiency with EPLAN, AutoCAD, industrial controls systems, and controls integration methodologies.
  • Strong communication, troubleshooting, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience supporting hyperscale or colocation data center environments.
  • Experience with AWS, Microsoft, Google, Oracle, Meta, or similar mission-critical facilities.
  • Familiarity with Revit, ETAP, and related engineering software.
  • Experience with chilled water systems, liquid cooling technologies, and mission-critical operations.
