The Role

The Controls Engineer owns the controls, data, and software layer of existing and planned pilot and production equipment - PLC programming, Ignition platform, sensors and instrumentation, and the data infrastructure that lets us understand and improve our processes. For the right person with a data science or systems background, this role could expand to support the implantation of various enterprise systems including MES, SPC, and the development and manufacturing data stack.

Your Responsibilities
  • Own PLC programming, HMI development, and controls integration across pilot and production equipment
  • Stand up and maintain widespread use of Ignition SCADA system for managing process data, managing alarms, and connecting various devices and data sources.
  • Partner with peers in process development, mechatronics, and manufacturing to integrate sensors, instrumentation, motion control, and data acquisition across the equipment fleet
  • Establish equipment data architecture stands so every new machine is data-ready by design
Your Skills and Expertise
  • 5+ years of industrial controls or automation engineering on custom capital equipment, ideally in a small company or startup environment
  • Strong PLC hardware selection, system configuration, and programming across various platforms
  • Experience with Ignition, OPC-UA, and modern SCADA / historian platforms
  • Well-versed sensors, instrumentation, electrical schematics, and motion systems
