Job description

Overview:

The Electrical Controls Engineer will provide electrical and controls engineering to allow the organization to accomplish its objectives & goals. Work within a team other skilled technicians and engineers to continuously improve and enable manufacturing systems to achieve production objectives. Spearhead innovative solutions and bring forth resources both internal and external to get projects completed on time and on budget. All work must be done in compliance with AS9100, EPD, OSHA, Local, State, and Federal standards, and regulations. Initiate and manage capital projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement reliable, efficient, user and maintenance friendly control systems to meet the requirements of production operations. The design must meet all OSHA general industry safety rules.
  • Build and develop and maintain a comprehensive OEE database for all critical manufacturing equipment.
  • Perform parts selection, analysis, simulation, and schematic capture for control and power electronics.
  • Perform system integration including debugging and troubleshooting
  • Assist in direction of maintenance technicians and ensure that they have the appropriate tools, skills, and training to be a world class maintenance organization.
  • Fully document all projects and equipment as required to maintain in proper functioning condition.
  • Plan for and manage capital and expense related projects. Ensure that all projects remain within allocated budgets.
  • Maintain optimal equipment efficiency to stay within process specifications established by Quality and Industrial Engineering.

Requirements

  • BS degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with supporting experience demonstrating electrical controls engineering competencies.
  • Extensive industrial experience may be considered as an alternative to a bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years' experience in writing PLC programs and design, repair, troubleshooting production equipment.
  • Experience performing schematic design, analysis, and simulation.
  • Must understand how to apply modern controls systems and robotics automation (I.e., PLC's, Personal Computers, Operator Interfaces) in a manufacturing environment.
  • Troubleshooting / failure analysis ability and experience.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC Software/Hardware, Cognex/Keyence Vision Systems, Fanuc, Universal, and similar robotics. Knowledge of TPM, 5S, FMEA, RCM etc.
  • Management of capital expenditure projects and cost justification methodology . Must be able to manage small to medium capital projects and direct technician level people.
