Job Summary:
The Reliability Technologist is responsible for improving operational performance (OEE) through improved technical performance of the plant equipment. This role has specific responsibilities related to predictive maintenance programs, maintenance training programs, improving machine designs, as well as electrical and controls troubleshooting.
Job Responsibilities & Tasks:
  • Improve operational performance and technical reliability
    • Facilitate and participate in OEE improvement initiatives and taskforces
    • Lead and maintain continuous improvement project plans both capital and operational
    • Learn, implement, and teach methodological tools necessary for problem solving
    • Suggest improvement plans for some day-to-day production and maintenance needs, driven from daily plant production meetings
    • Analyze daily reporting to determine where to plan daily actions to support performance.
    • Mentor and provide support/ training/ guidance to others within the plant in areas related to troubleshooting, repairs, root cause analysis, continuous improvement, industrial safety and food safety.
    • Some 'after hours - on call' plant support for controls, automation, or advanced electrical troubleshooting.
    • Make basic changes to automated controls programming as necessary. Collaborate with Controls Engineers or subject matter experts on more complex programming needs
  • Assist in optimizing the maintenance structure and support tools
    • Participate in creating and updating maintenance procedures
    • Help to define the indicators on the maintenance communications boards
    • Develop the PM ad PdM strategy for new and existing equipment
    • Evaluate PM and PdM effectiveness and propose updates/edits/deletions (reverse RCM)
    • Assume the ownership of one or more predictive maintenance reliability programs
  • Develop and maintain technical process expertise
    • Responsible to create and keep up to date maintenance procedures for industrial equipment
    • Guarantee relevance of process and technical modifications
    • Participate in qualifying new processes on technical and process aspects
    • Overcome technical issues resulting from industrial trials and/or commercialization
    • Help to define projects that are "to be assessed" based on developed process and internal proposals
    • Define definite scopes for the projects
  • Collaborate in the design of engineering proposals to ensure maintainability of equipment. Manage and lead small engineering projects as required.
    • Participate in the analysis and the development of the project.
    • In partnership with suppliers, evaluate and define technical solutions and validate their feasibility.
    • Consults and participates in the selection of suppliers.
    • Follow the technical side qualifications as needed and complete new PM tasks and PM plans.
    • Organize the appropriate technical files for projects as they are completed
    • Ensure the transfer to production and maintenance (qualification, documentation, and follow-through)
    • Carry out contractor safety and GMP training for people brought on-site as needed
    • All other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent industry experience

EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Reliability or as a specialized Maintenance professional in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in food manufacturing with knowledge of packaging processes is strongly preferred.
  • Experience applying lean manufacturing and six sigma principles.

SKILLS
  • MS Office Suite proficient
  • CMMS experience required
  • Must have the ability to lead thru influence, work cross-functionally, and provide guidance, feedback and coaching to plant employees
  • Well-developed time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to see the "big picture" and work independently.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Be a champion for safety, quality and GMP standards, as needed
  • Must have strong skills in electrical, mechanical, and controls

PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
  • Able to access all areas of the manufacturing facility including use of stairs, ladders, and the occasional powered lift.
  • Must be able to wear PPE and GMP attire.
  • Must be able to work 8 hours per day and be on his/her feet for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
