Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

Under direction of the Engineering Manager, the Engineering Intern position will work primarily within the Engineering Group to support other Design Engineers in their day-to-day activities. The internship will include learning how to use the ALC applications design tool, general engineering department processes, control applications theory and participation in the engineering development program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assistance for other Design Engineers related to specific projects tasks and the engineering function.
  • Training and development in the use of the engineering design tools.
  • Participates in the ongoing development program with other entry level engineers.
  • Will perform and participate in project closeout activities as built control diagrams and operational and maintenance manuals.
  • May participate in field commissioning activities to support personal development and support for the field technicians.
  • Performs basic program and graphics modification and hardware applications designs.
  • Initiates and tracks project checkout documentation and as-built conditions as directed.
  • Attends and successfully completes OSHA 10 safety training as assigned.
  • Communicates effectively with all other project team members concerning problems, obstacles, issues and information needs from the field.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager or management staff.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Enrolled in an accredited engineering program at a university in pursuit of an engineering degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering or experience of 2-5 years of related work experience in building automation systems industry.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and any technical school training.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Windows, File Structure.  MS Visio preferred experience.
  • Must be highly organized and possess the ability to work in a high paced environment with the ability to prioritize tasks to meet the schedules given by Sunbelt leadership.
  • Has the ability to operate independently and autonomously and take ownership of all assigned tasks.
  • Ability to execute their work to ensure high customer satisfaction and the highest quality deliverable.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills are a requirement of this position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand, use hands to operate computer keyboard and telephone, talk and hear.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

Competitive Wages: 

$18.00 to $25.00 per hour. Applicants please note that actual compensation is determined by several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications, relevant education or training, and specific work location, among others. The offered wage or salary is only one aspect of an employee's total compensation.
