Industrial Maintenance Mechanic II
Department: Maintenance
Reports To: Maintenance Lead / Maintenance Supervisor

Position Summary
The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic II is a skilled maintenance professional responsible for independently performing preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, troubleshooting, equipment installations, and process improvements on manufacturing equipment and facility systems. This position plays a critical role in maximizing equipment reliability, minimizing production downtime, and supporting safe, efficient manufacturing operations.
The Maintenance Mechanic II is expected to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical systems with minimal supervision. This position also supports equipment upgrades, new equipment installations, preventive maintenance optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), OSHA regulations, and company safety standards.
Unlike the Industrial Maintenance Apprentice – Level I, who works primarily under supervision while learning maintenance fundamentals, the Maintenance Mechanic II independently performs maintenance activities, solves complex equipment issues, and serves as a technical resource for less experienced mechanics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Preventive Maintenance
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on production equipment and facility systems with minimal supervision.
  • Complete preventive maintenance tasks safely, efficiently, and according to established maintenance procedures.
  • Inspect equipment for wear, damage, and reliability concerns.
  • Recommend preventive maintenance improvements to increase equipment reliability.
  • Create follow-up Work Orders for deficiencies identified during inspections.
  • Accurately document completed maintenance activities within the CMMS.

Corrective Maintenance
Independently diagnose and repair production equipment including:
  • Bottle unscramblers
  • Liquid fillers

CMMS Documentation
Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to:
  • Review assigned Work Orders
  • Complete maintenance documentation
  • Record labor hours

  • Upload repair photographs
  • Create follow-up Work Orders
  • Maintain accurate equipment maintenance records

Safety Responsibilities
Comply with all applicable:

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum four (4) years of industrial maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of technical education and hands-on experience.
  • Experience maintaining automated manufacturing or packaging equipment.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain certification.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree or Technical Certificate in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, or related field.
  • Experience in cosmetics, food, pharmaceutical, or consumer packaged goods manufacturing.
  • Basic PLC troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with VFDs and motor controls.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Physical Requirements
The employee must regularly:
