North West Rubber Ltd., was founded in 1968 in Pitt Meadows, British Columbia, Canada.  In the late ’60′s and early ’70′s, the company picked up scrap tires and buffings from the local area, ground them up, and manufactured rubber mats. These mats were purchased for use in horse and dairy stalls, ice rinks, gyms, and pick-up truck beds. Over the years, the business has grown and changed from a small, regional manufacturer of crude rubber products to a leading, global recycled rubber manufacturer.

Today, North West Rubber is one of the largest rubber mat manufacturers in the world. The company owns and operates manufacturing facilities in Canada (British Columbia, Ontario, & Quebec), in the USA (Texas) with our products distributed all over the world.

We are looking for full-time permanent Maintenance Supervisor to work in our tire recycling facility in Brantford, Ontario.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for providing day-to-day leadership for all maintenance activities within the facility to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of processing equipment and plant infrastructure.   This role oversees preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs while supervising maintenance technicians, millwrights, apprentices and contractors. The ideal candidate possesses extensive hands-on expertise in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, coach, and develop maintenance technicians and trades personnel
  • Plan and prioritize maintenance activities to minimize downtime and ensure appropriate coverage across to support a continuous operation
  • Lead maintenance of tire shredders, granulators, conveyors, screens, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, and rotating equipment
  • Drive a safety mindset across team and within the site; holding people accountable to working with standard methods and processes
  • Oversee troubleshooting of industrial motors, MCCs, VFDs, PLC-controlled equipment, instrumentation, and control systems
  • Provide advanced support for hydraulic pumps, cylinders, valves, motors, and power units.
  • Develop and manage preventative and predictive maintenance programs
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, LOTO, machine guarding, and environmental requirements
  • Manage spare parts inventory, vendor relationships, and maintenance budgets

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Journeyperson Millwright, Industrial Electrician, Electro-Mechanical Technician, or related trade certifications combined with 5-8 years of industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing, recycling, mining or heavy industry
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience, managing skilled trades
  • Demonstrated experience using CMMS software, Microsoft Office
  • Exceptional technical experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Mechanical systems: conveyors, bearings, gearboxes, welding, fabrication, pumps, and rotating equipment.
  • Electrical systems: three-phase power, motor controls, VFDs, PLCs, instrumentation, and electrical schematics.
  • Hydraulic systems: pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, pressure testing, troubleshooting, and contamination control.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels in the organization
  • Previous experience creating and managing maintenance budgets with a focus on tracking costs
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills; strong use of KPI’s to drive decisions
