Job description

Bakery bling offers Designer Cookie kits, Gingerbread houses and Edible decor to our customers.The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance for bakery bling. This role ensures the accuracy of financial results, supports operational decision-making, and helps drive financial efficiency within a food production and consumer packaged goods (CPG) environment.

Financial Management & Reporting
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership
Cost Accounting & Inventory
  • Manage cost accounting systems, including standard costing and variance analysis
  • Monitor production costs, ingredient usage, labor, and overhead
  • Oversee inventory accounting, including raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods
  • Partner with operations to improve margins and reduce waste
Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes
  • Track performance against budget and provide variance analysis
  • Support strategic planning and financial modeling
Internal Controls & Compliance
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, audits, and food industry reporting standards
  • Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory agencies
Team Leadership
  • Manage and develop the accounting team
  • Improve processes and implement best practices in accounting systems
  • Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement
Systems & Process Improvement
  • Oversee ERP/accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, QuickBooks, etc.)
  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline financial processes
  • Support cross-functional initiatives with operations, supply chain, and sales

QualificationsRequired
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 7–10+ years of accounting/finance experience
  • 3+ years in a leadership role (Controller, Assistant Controller, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience with cost accounting and inventory management
Preferred
  • CPA or CMA certification
  • Experience in food manufacturing, bakery, or CPG industry
  • Familiarity with production environments and supply chain finance
