Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Controller position is responsible for the accounting and financial reporting operations of the company. This includes the monthly presentation of financial reports and operational metrics, maintenance of the accounting system, and over-seeing internal controls designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of financial reporting.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Oversee the operations of the accounting department including hiring, terminating, and development of accounting office team members
  2. Ensuring AP is paid timely and all reasonable discounts are taken
  3. Ensuring AR are collected promptly
  4. Maintaining a system of control over our accounting records
  5. Issue timely, complete, and accurate financial information
  6. Provide financial analysis and leadership to management team
  7. Calculate and issue operational metrics
  8. Manage the development and production of annual budgets and monthly forecasts
  9. Ensuring accurate records are kept and forecasts are developed for capital accounting and planning.
  10. Coordinate the provision of information with auditors.


REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
  2. 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including multi-unit retail
  3. Strong knowledge of GAAP, retail operations, and inventory management
  4. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  5. Problem solving in a fast-changing environment; ability to think on your feet
  6. Leading, coaching, and motivating your team members
  7. Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems
