This is a key leadership role for an accounting professional who enjoys creating structure, improving processes, strengthening controls, and making sure leadership has accurate financial information to make smart business decisions.

Reporting to the VP of Finance, the Controller will oversee the day-to-day accounting function, including the general ledger, financial reporting, month-end and year-end close, reconciliations, accounting controls, and accounting team development.

If you are a hands-on accounting leader who understands the details but can also see the bigger financial picture, we’d love to hear from you.

What You'll Do
  • Own the general ledger and ensure accounting activity is accurate, complete, and properly classified.
  • Lead and improve the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Prepare and/or oversee financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement, and supporting schedules.
  • Own the balance sheet reconciliation process, ensuring accounts are properly supported and discrepancies are resolved.
  • Review journal entries, accruals, deferrals, allocations, and other significant accounting transactions.
  • Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Identify process gaps and implement improvements that increase accuracy, efficiency, and accountability.
  • Provide oversight of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, cash management, and collections.
  • Monitor AR aging and support efforts to improve cash flow and collections.
  • Help optimize our ERP and accounting systems, with NetSuite experience strongly preferred.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and eliminate unnecessary spreadsheets and duplicate work.
  • Establish standardized workflows and documentation across the accounting function.
  • Lead, coach, and develop accounting team members while establishing clear expectations and accountability.
  • Coordinate with external CPAs, auditors, banks, insurance providers, and other financial partners.
  • Support tax preparation, audits, reviews, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and other financial initiatives.
  • Partner with the VP of Finance and leadership team to identify trends, financial risks, and opportunities.
Requirements: What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Previous supervisory or accounting team leadership experience.
  • Strong experience with general ledger accounting, month-end/year-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing accounting controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and accrual accounting.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency with accounting and financial reporting systems.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Ability to lead a team, establish accountability, and maintain high standards for accuracy and timeliness.
Preferred Qualifications
  • NetSuite or comparable ERP experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with an ERP implementation, upgrade, or system conversion.
  • Experience working in a growing or multi-entity organization.
  • Experience in manufacturing, construction, home improvement, or another operationally complex industry.
  • Experience with job costing, inventory, revenue recognition, or project-based accounting.
  • CPA designation or progress toward CPA is a plus.
