Job description

Assistant Controller
Gil-Mar Holdings, LLC is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller for our accounting department. The Assistant Controller reports to the Corporate Controller and assists other members of the accounting team. This position is responsible for all high-level accounting activities and plays an instrumental role in the financial success of the company and its subsidiaries.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Post journal entries and assist in the preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements for the corporation and its subsidiaries
  • Prepare account reconciliations to ensure general ledger accuracy and make corrections if necessary
  • Actively participate in the implementation of new accounting and ERP software and train members of the accounting team
  • Review internal accounting policies and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Recognize and resolve accounting and customer collections issues
  • Ensure accuracy of vendor invoices and appropriate payment per terms
  • Assist members of the accounting department in resolving errors
  • Analyze monthly operating results in comparison to budget, identify and explain variances
  • Coordinate with external auditors to ensure the timely completion of audits and annual review
  • Responsible for all required financial, governmental, and tax reports
  • Other special projects as requested by the Corporate Controller
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (experience with Epicor CMS a plus)
  • Knowledgeable in US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Meticulous with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products
  • Operational accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
Working Conditions:
Normal office environment where there is no physical discomfort or exposure to hazards due to temperature, dust, noise and the like. Must strive for continuous improvement.
