Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to lead and oversee the organization’s accounting and financial reporting functions. This position will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial statements, maintaining compliance with GAAP and statutory accounting requirements, and applying ASC standards to complex accounting matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical accounting foundation, experience overseeing month-end and year-end close processes, and the ability to partner with executive leadership on financial reporting, analysis, compliance, and strategic decision-making. Experience within the insurance or financial services industry is highly preferred.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee daily accounting operations, month-end and year-end close, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure financial statements and reporting comply with GAAP, statutory accounting principles, and applicable ASC standards.
  • Oversee general ledger, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial analysis.
  • Manage statutory reporting, regulatory requirements, and external audit processes.
  • Research and interpret accounting standards and ensure appropriate application across the organization.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and financial reporting processes.
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting to senior leadership to support business decisions.
  • Lead and develop accounting staff while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to accounting policies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, statutory accounting, and ASC practices required.
  • Proven Controller or senior-level accounting experience.
  • Experience with financial reporting, month-end close, reconciliations, and audits.
  • Insurance or financial services accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • CPA is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work fully onsite in Maitland, Florida.
