The Position: Traffic Controller

Type: Full-time

Reports To: General Foreperson

About Us:

Wright Tree Service, a business unit of Wright Canada Holdings, provides vegetation management, storm restoration, and work planning services to utility companies and their communities across North America.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and control vehicle and pedestrian traffic at work sites, ensuring smooth flow and minimal disruption.

  • Monitor site conditions and implement safety protocols to protect workers and the public. Report any hazards or incidents immediately.

  • Erect and maintain traffic control signs, cones, and barriers in accordance with applicable regulations and best practices.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for motorists and pedestrians, providing clear directions and information regarding detours and delays.

  • Work closely with crew members and site supervisors to coordinate operations and minimize traffic disruption.

  • Document daily activities, incidents, and any traffic-related issues encountered during work shifts.

  • Other duties as required.

Experience and Knowledge Expectations:

  • Traffic Controller Person (TCP) certification or the willingness to obtain if needed.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license, and Driver's Abstract, with less than 6 demerits.

  • Applicant must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.

  • Valid First Aid with CPR or willingness to obtain.

  • Ability to work as part of a team in physically demanding environments.

  • Motivated to learn independently and from team members, with strong time management skills.

  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining tools and equipment.

  • Comfortable working in noisy environments with proper PPE.

  • Willingness to work long hours, overtime, and participate in on-call rotations during emergencies.

  • Basic knowledge of trees, including identification and growth habits would be considered an asset.
