Job description

A well-established, midsize manufacturing company in Sioux Falls is seeking an experienced Controller to join its executive leadership team.

The company employs approximately 120+ employees and serves both local and national customers.

The Opportunity

The Controller will oversee the company's accounting function, lead an established team of 5 direct reports, and serve as a key financial partner to executive leadership.

This position will be responsible for financial reporting and controls while also playing a major role in improving the company's job costing, WIP, reporting, and business systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and develop the existing accounting team

  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement preparation and review

  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial reporting

  • Develop and improve job costing and project profitability reporting

  • Oversee WIP tracking, inventory costing, and financial controls

  • Evaluate and help implement a new ERP/business system

  • Develop financial KPIs and reporting tools for leadership

  • Partner with operations and executive management on financial performance and strategic business decisions

  • Identify opportunities to improve margins, processes, controls, and overall profitability

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience preferred

  • Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior-level accounting leadership experience

  • Manufacturing, fabrication, construction, or other job-costing environment experience strongly preferred

  • Strong understanding of job costing, WIP, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting

  • ERP/business system implementation or improvement experience is highly valued

  • CPA or CMA preferred, but not required

  • Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills
