Job description

Dhillon Healthcare Group (dba Seva Hospice, Seva Home Health, CareOne Home Health, and Legacy Home Care Services) is a locally owned and operated healthcare provider with a team of compassionate professionals caring for our neighbors. We are looking for an exceptional Controller to join our growing team. This position will be based in Salida, CA.

The Controller will be responsible for directing the fiscal functions of the organization and provide financial leadership for all Home Health, Hospice, and Home Care units of Dhillon Healthcare Group.  In this role, the Controller is the head of the accounting and billing departments and will manage the general finance, accounting, and billing teams. This position will also assist with the development of internal control policies, procedures, and financial planning.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Directs the design and maintenance of an accrual accounting system including chart of accounts, general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP).
  • Maintains all appropriate financial and statistical records to meet legal, regulatory and accounting standards.
  • Manages all aspects of accounting, billing, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, revenue recognition, and various special analyses.
  • Verifies that sub-ledger systems (billing, payroll, accounts payable, etc.) balance to general ledger.
  • Ensures an appropriate system of internal controls to protect the Company’s assets and to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Supervises, leads and coaches accounting and billing office staff promoting a good work ethic and professional results.
  • Maintains control of funds and assets. Develops and maintains rolling cash flow projections. Maintains fixed asset register; responsible for recognizing deprecation in accordance with GAAP and Medicare regulations.
  • Ensure A/P and A/R account processing and collecting payments are timely and efficient.
  • Advise on financial analyses and decision-making regarding capital investments, pricing, contract negotiations, significant costs, benchmarks, and other matters with CEO and executive team.
  • Develops, implements and monitors policies and procedures for all business and financial operations.
  • Complying with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting
  • Coordinates with the Company’s independent auditors, or any other external reviewer, to ensure their timely access to needed records or information in performing their work, including preparing accurate statistical and financial data in preparation of all interim and final cost reports, third-party payor reimbursement reports, and related documents.
  • Prepares, reviews, and analyzes the monthly, year-to-date, and annual financial statements and statistical reports. Validates the accuracy of statistical and financial reports and statements.
  • Work with the CEO and executive team to develop the annual budget.
  • Coordinates the timely and accurate flow of historical statistical and financial data to all appropriate management personnel to aid in decision making and projections. Ensures all management personnel budgetary work product maintains quality and integrity in input into budgetary systems.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business management. CPA designation preferred.
  • Five (5) years of business/accounting work experience required with progressive responsibility.
  • Extensive knowledge of and ability to implement Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with financial reporting requirements.
  • QuickBooks or similar software experience required.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of computers and automated systems required, including advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to work independently, maintain an organized workload with accuracy, and problem solve many variables in both standard and exceptional situations.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate with both internal and external customers and effectively present information one-on-one or in group settings.
  • Strong leadership capabilities and ability to relate and work well with others within each level of authority and responsibility.
