Job description

  • Maintain and develop new software products for command, control, and monitoring of launch vehicle avionics and electrical ground support equipment
  • Implement modern design principles and concepts and provide solutions to difficult technical problems
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Technology Architects, QA, and Automation team members in an Agile environment
  • Design, develop, test, operate, and maintain software and firmware components and computing systems software integrated with launch systems
  • Provide technical leadership and hands‑on development for operational and enabling capabilities meeting hard real‑time requirements
  • Independently determine and develop approaches to problems
  • Guide and train less experienced engineers; potentially perform Authorized Systems Engineer (ASE) responsibilities
  • Ensure delivery of mission‑critical software used during launch vehicle manufacturing, preflight testing, and launch countdown
  • Support launch events by shadowing launch operations teams remotely
  • Apply standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the software development life cycle
  • Generate engineering applications and products such as display systems, mechanical control systems, and electrical control systems used to operate rockets
  • Interface with customers, suppliers, application users, and technical and support personnel
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 4+ years of related work experience
  • Experience working on an agile development team
  • Experience independently designing, developing, and delivering solutions to difficult software/hardware problems
  • Experience presenting hardware/software system architecture and designs to internal audiences and external customers
  • Experience authoring, executing, and reviewing software products throughout the full software development life cycle
  • Experience with object-oriented designs and languages
  • Experience with C/C++
  • Experience with Software Configuration Management practices
  • Experience with Agile Methodologies
  • Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD)
  • Experience with Software Design Principles
  • Experience with Configuration Management practices and tools such as Git
  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined in ITAR 22 CFR 120.62
  • Preferred: experience designing and architecting software for complex solutions
  • Preferred: experience serving as a technical lead on software development efforts
  • Preferred: experience providing guidance, training, or mentoring to less experienced engineers
  • Preferred: experience with Python
  • Preferred: experience with real-time Linux-based operating systems
  • Preferred: expertise developing and troubleshooting timing-critical hardware and software systems
  • Preferred: experience with secure software development practices
  • Preferred: experience with command and control software for ground support equipment, industrial control systems, or similar safety-critical applications
  • Preferred: experience in the aerospace, launch, or defense industry
