Job description

Location: Butler, PA

Cleveland-Cliffs, Butler Works is looking for an Electrical Maintenance Engineerin our Cold Mill Maintenance Department. The Electrical Maintenance Engineerwill be responsible for troubleshooting and repair as well as determining root cause analysis of all electrical failures as well as developing plans for improvement and control system PPM schedules.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Review and improve all electrical rules and guidelines for the area assigned. Monitor any changes in electrical rules within the plant, corporation, or OSHA. Implement these changes into area JSHAs and QSMPs. Develop and provide training to all electrically qualified employees in the area for any changes and offer electrical refresher courses from time to time.

  • Maintain all equipment drives, control systems and measurement systems for the continuous and batch processing units/equipment. Develop and maintain system preventative / predictive maintenance schedules.

  • Plan equipment outages and upgrades. Lead maintenance, electronic services, and contractors during these plans, and on day to day operations.

  • Read/update electrical prints and P&IDs.

  • Oversee the Electronic Services employees scheduled for the department with direction from the Section Manager and/or Area Manager.

  • Work closely with the Level 1 and Level 2 programming personnel to integrate/test/upgrade controls equipment throughout the Hilltop Department.

  • Monitor, maintain and improve our Electrical Steel Laser System.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology degree or similar discipline.

  • Experience with all types of motor control systems. D.C. motors, SCR controls, A.C. VFD from small HP to 500 HP.

  • Drive tuning and installation experience.

  • PLC design, programming, installation, and troubleshooting experience.

  • Relay logics experience.

  • Experience with instrumentation for water, gas and hydraulic systems.

  • Computer programming experience is a bonus.

  • Field service experience in troubleshooting, repairs and improvements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years' experience with motor control systems, PLCs in an industrial environment.

  • Programming experience with ControlLogix PLC platform.

  • Programming experience with developing HMI systems. Ignition is the current platform.

  • Experience with Allen Bradley D.C. drives.
