Job Title: Control Systems Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Control Systems Specialist to execute PLC/HMI system programming from established baseline applications. The role involves creating program flowcharts, logic diagrams, and control narrative documents, and developing detailed Operations and Maintenance manuals. You will extract data from project documents, perform self-checks, and support factory floor and field service personnel during various stages of testing and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Execute PLC/HMI system programming from established baseline applications.
• Create program flowcharts, logic diagrams, and controls narrative documents.
• Develop documentation for Operations and Maintenance manuals related to the control system.
• Extract required data from project documents such as P&I and electrical drawings for software development.
• Perform self-check of all programs for accuracy, including unit and integration testing, error tracking, and revision control.
• Support factory floor personnel for FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) procedure creation and participate in factory acceptance tests.
• Support field service personnel during commissioning as required.
• Perform setup, connection, and troubleshooting of control system equipment.
• Coordinate schedules with other Packaging groups and manufacturing.
• Collaborate with other groups to ensure excellent communication between project engineering, manufacturing, and service.
• Support Marketing and Application Engineering with non-standard system configurations and customer specification reviews.
• Travel as required to support sales, customer meetings, HAZOP reviews, and field commissioning.

Essential Skills

• Strong electrical experience with PLC programming.
• Industrial knowledge of compressor controls is strongly preferred.
• Experience with Rockwell Automation is a must.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and quality assurance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience with PLC/HMI hardware and programming is preferred.
• Experience with Rockwell Automation hardware and software related to the Logix family of PLCs and HMI's.
• Preferred experience with other PLC/HMI (SCADA) hardware/software such as Siemens, Modicon, GE Fanuc, etc.
• Knowledge of P&I and electrical drawings.
• Understanding of centrifugal compressors and process control systems.
• Strong electrical systems understanding and troubleshooting ability.

Work Environment

The position is part of a small team comprising a manager and two other specialists, one higher level and one junior. The work schedule includes three days on-site and two days remote per week. The role involves some travel, including fieldwork. The facility operates across two shifts with over 100 employees, and the shift hours are from 8 am to 3 pm. The company is experiencing growth and is expanding its facility, which is projected to be completed in October. This is a Permanent position based out of Voorheesville, NY.

The pay range for this position is $88000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
