Job Summary:

Leads hardware and software design, development, integration, testing, commissioning, and installation support for control system projects. Provides technical leadership to project team members, supports customer needs, and takes ownership of assigned project activities from design through commissioning.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or another pertinent curriculum combined with relevant technical experience.
  • Typically 3+ years of relevant control system experience.
  • Proven experience leading project activities or small to mid-sized projects.
  • Experience designing, developing, integrating, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting industrial control systems.
  • AVEVA System Platform and/or InTouch HMI experience strongly preferred. Experience with AVEVA Historian and related AVEVA technologies is a plus.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Understand AVEVA System Platform architecture, object development, graphics, alarming, communications, and system configuration.
  • Troubleshoot control system hardware, software, communications, and network-related issues.
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, control narratives, electrical drawings, and wiring diagrams.
  • Lead control system design, development, integration, testing, installation, start-up, and commissioning activities.
  • Lead and perform Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
  • Provide technical guidance to project team members during project execution and field activities.
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of HMI, PLC, instrumentation, and industrial control system applications.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with AVEVA System Platform and/or InTouch HMI, including application development, configuration, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and deployment.
  • Develop and maintain AVEVA-based HMI and supervisory control applications in accordance with project and customer requirements.
  • Perform control system design and instrumentation specifications for basic control systems.
  • Maintain compliance with Thermo Systems' Quality Management System (QMS) and review project documentation for accuracy and quality.
  • Understand IT systems, network infrastructure, and computer systems as they relate to control system integration.

Customer Service:

  • Communicate effectively and professionally with customers, vendors, and project stakeholders.
  • Follow customer-specific site standards and procedures.
  • Provide responsive customer support and proactively address customer needs.
  • Follow through on commitments and maintain strong customer relationships.

Project Responsibilities:

  • Lead assigned project activities and/or small to mid-sized projects from planning through completion.
  • Complete work accurately, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Understand project scope, contracts, specifications, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Identify and communicate project issues, risks, and scope concerns to project leadership.
  • Provide accurate status updates and technical guidance to project team members.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate effectively with engineers, technicians, and other project team members.

  • Ability to troubleshoot HMI, PLC, control system, communications, and network issues.
  • Proficient with Microsoft operating systems and Office tools.
  • Ability to promote a positive and collaborative team culture.
  • Commitment to working safely and following applicable PPE and site requirements.

Travel Required:

Overnight travel may be required up to 50%.

On Call:

On-call rotation participation may be required based on location and client needs.
